Our Commitment

 

BIGA IMPACT is committed to fostering an environment of respect and dignity for all. We do not discriminate and we prohibit discrimination against any person in any aspect of our operations, including the provision of services, volunteer opportunities, and employment, based on any protected characteristic under applicable law.

This commitment is grounded in our mission and in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including but not limited to: Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Housing Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act and Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA).

Scope of Policy
 

This policy applies to all individuals who interact with BIGA IMPACT, including:

  • Clients and applicants for assistance.

  • Employees, volunteers, and board members.

  • Contractors and vendors.

BIGA IMPACT does not tolerate discrimination based on any of the following characteristics, whether actual or perceived:

  • Race, Color, or Ethnicity

  • National Origin or Ancestry

  • Sex, Gender Identity, or Gender Expression

  • Sexual Orientation

  • Age

  • Disability (Physical or Mental)

  • Medical Condition

  • Genetic Information

  • Marital Status

  • Military or Veteran Status

  • Citizenship Status

  • Primary Language

  • Status as a person who was formerly incarcerated or justice-involved

 

Specific Policy in Service Delivery
 

In accordance with our Housing First model, our services are provided without pre-conditions. Specifically, we do not deny services based on:

  • Credit history or financial status unrelated to program eligibility.

  • Criminal history unrelated to tenancy.

  • Sobriety or participation in treatment programs.

  • Immigration or citizenship status.

 

We provide reasonable accommodations and language access services to ensure individuals with disabilities and limited English proficiency have equal access to our programs.

 

How to Report Discrimination
BIGA IMPACT takes all allegations of discrimination seriously. If you believe you have been subjected to discrimination by BIGA IMPACT or any of its representatives, we encourage you to report it immediately.

 

Please contact our designated Compliance Officer with your complaint. You will not face retaliation for reporting a concern in good faith.
