This program provides financial assistance for housing costs to eligible individuals formerly incarcerated in California state prison who live in the designated Small Counties. Our goal is to support a stable reentry and prevent homelessness.
Eligibility Requirements: To qualify, you must meet all of the following:
Be 18 years or older.
Have been formerly incarcerated in a California state prison.
Live in, or be exiting to, one of the eligible Small Counties.
Need help with move-in costs (like a security deposit) or back rent to avoid eviction.
Household Income: We collect income information to help prioritize those with the greatest financial need. There is no strict income cutoff to be eligible.

Back rent (arrears) to prevent eviction
Short-term hotel vouchers
Future rent assistance
Essential household set-up items
Important Program Details:
Housing First Approach: No sobriety requirements or credit checks. We do not ask about immigration status.
Priority Assistance: When funding is limited, we must prioritize those at the highest risk of homelessness (e.g., with an eviction notice).
Meeting eligibility does not guarantee assistance due to limited resources.
